PETER STONE

Peter Stone makes quietly ferocious alt folk music to fill the cavernous spaces within a romantic wanderer's soul. Whether forlorn and yearning, or emphatically at peace, Peter’s dynamic songwriting summons the right sonic bed to process, release and revel in the human and the real. They’re not a half bad guitarist, either.

In addition to releasing their own music as a solo artist, Peter is also the co-founder and former guitarist of The Rare Occasions. Through releases as Rare Occasions, Peter’s guitar and songwriting have been streamed over 1 billion times worldwide.

With a series of EPs and an LP already in their discography, Peter is currently releasing songs from their second LP. It is a metamorphosis of their earlier alt-folk sound, bridging further into psychedelia, bedroom pop and rock. The songwriting on the record weaves through topics of existentialism, romance, and alienation. The lyrical style exhibits a deft blend of wider socio-philosophical commentary and deeply personal transmissions, while the music coalesces these perspectives into a greater whole. It is a sound that brings universality to the listener in a vivid and expansive journey of the soul.

STONE COLD GRACE

STONE COLD GRACE is the pseudonym of indie folk singer/songwriter Sara Johnson. Compared to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Patti Griffin and Allegra Krieger, Johnson weaves intricate stories of love, loss and becoming into delicately crafted songs. She resides in Philadelphia and is active in the local music scene there.

Johnson’s newest single, “You In the Armchair,” (out April 25) details the events of a house party. Trapped in her own thoughts, Johnson navigates the overwhelming experience of catching up and being politely social while the object of her affection lounges on the armchair in the corner. This slow and melodic indie rock ballad paints a still life of all of the party’s attendees while simultaneously conveying everything left unsaid between her and her mysterious paramour.

JACKSON PINES

"[A] duo from Jersey — Jackson, to be specific, nestled in the pine barrens — core members Joe Makoviecki (vocals, guitar) and James Black (bass) teamed up with some heavy-hitting friends for their debut LP Purgatory Road. Simone Felice produced the record in his Sugar Mountain Studio in Palenville, NY and played drums; James Felice contributed piano and organ throughout the set as well. As such, the record is an expert set of indie folk, drawing on the melodies and arrangements of bluegrass and mountain music but incorporating it tastefully into Makoviecki’s songs, which are very much of the now.” - John Vettese, WXPN, The Key
