PAMELA HETHERINGTON

Pamela Hetherington is a Philadelphia native who has devoted her life to the art form of tap dancing. She is an award-winning choreographer and has been commissioned by multiple cultural institutions to present her work, including Fringe Arts, The Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia Jazz Project, Creative Philadelphia, PhillyCAM, ArtYard, Symphony Space, and the Allentown Art Museum. She is a community engagement teaching artist with Jacob’s Pillow and a Fellow of their CIM Institute. Starting in Fall 2026, she directs the Jazz Tap Program at Moravian University and is also an adjunct instructor at Thomas Jefferson University in their Creativity Core Curriculum Program. Taking inspiration from her mentor, Heather Cornell, her ten years of work as the trailblazing director of Sound Space Performing Arts, Philadelphia Jazz Tap Ensemble, The Philadelphia Community Tap Project and Philadelphia Youth Tap created radical community access to the arts in North Philadelphia and its effects on Philadelphia tap dance history are far-reaching.
