NISARG SHAH

Nisarg Shah is a tenor saxophonist and composer from Long Island, NY, now residing in Philadelphia, PA. His musical journey started with his grandfather, an Indian classical flautist and his first inspiration. Since then, Nisarg’s saxophone sound has taken great influence from the likes of Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, Ben Webster and more. Nisarg’s Quintet has cultivated a recognizable sound rooted in the jazz tradition while highlighting the identities and stories of each voice in the band through original arrangements, compositions, and sonic exploration.
